Halbweisse

halbweisseThe Halbweisse symbolizes the much longed-for season of Spring.

His mask and head dress symbolize those of the Melcher, but instead of a ‘lederhose’, he wears long, white, embroidered pants. The pants are embroidered with small, round, colorful, embroidered patches, with colorful edging and tiny bells.

The Halbweisse holds a willow switch in his hands. He uses this to catch the spectators and give them a ‘Mullerschlag’ (Muller tap) which is explained on the Muller Tradition page.

The Halbweisse is the most agile character of them all. He hops up and down on both legs, or bounces from one leg to the other. He also jumps over his willow switch like a jump rope.
